In 1991, AIPPI-KOREA
began holding an Annual Spring Meeting that coincides
with the change of financial year and provides a
forum for open discussion for planning of events
throughout the remainder of the year. Since 1992,
the Annual Spring Meeting has been held by AIPPI-KOREA
in cooperation with LES-KOREA (Licensing Executive
Society) and APAA-KOREA
(Asian Patent Attorney Association). The conjoint
meeting is designed to provide networking opportunities
within each group and between the sister groups
of the three intellectual Property Associations
in Korea, as well as provide a forum for academic
advancement and discussion.
The 11th Joint Seminar
and Networking meeting of AIPPI-KOREA, LES-KOREA
and AIPAA-KOREA was held on 20-21st April 2002 at
the Tower Hotel in Seoul.
During the meeting the three groups worked to strengthen
ties by dealing with pending problems of common
interest. In addition, guest speakers delivered
informative speeches
on the "Identity of the Korean" and the
"Future of the Korean IT Industry." The
meeting also worked to inform participants of upcoming
international conferences and bolster support.
AIPPI-KOREA
held International Intellectual Property Conferences
independently in the year 1994, in cooperation with
LES-KOREA in 1995 and 1998, and with LES-KOREA and
APAA Korea in 1997 and 2000. AIPPI will hold a further
conference this year in conjunction with LES Korea.
Each Conference has received attendance of between
200-500 participants from thirty (30)
to fifty (50) countries around the world.
AIPPI-KOREA's ability
to collectively host several events successfully
in cooperation with other intellectual property
related organizations in Korea is unique the world
over. Some other countries are now looking toward
Korea to discover ways to better coordinate relationships
between sister intellectual property groups such
as LES and APAA.
